Proof positive; Jesus WILL protect America.

http://www.youtube.com/user/ComedyJe...20/XaNOqDarnzg

In a startling, heretofore unrevealed video, we are given evidence of how much this nation is loved by the Sun of God..........and that he fully intends to save us and protect us.

A better summation of the belief and ideology shared by conservative Americans across this land, I have never seen.

I examined that video with a critical eye.

I'm pretty sure that's not Jesus.
It's probably just an actor, doing some sort of satirical comedy bit.

Sort of funny, in a low-key, low-budget sort of way.

I have surmised a unique interview with Freethinker. I have to admit, I wasn't sure if the world was ready for an interview with Freethinker. But I figured the self titled free thinking person should at least get a mini spot here on all forums. So with out further deliberation, I give you! The Freethinker interview!

Inviolable:
I understand you're a biased freak when it comes to religion.
Can you go into some detail as to why that is?

Inviolable:
Really?

Freethinker:

Inviolable:
I see. So can you elaborate?

Freethinker:

Inviolable:
That's quite a mouthful.

Freethinker:

Inviolable:
O.K. Well, I'm afraid we're out of time, but before we go I just wanted to touch base on how your pet frog did in the pet show? I know, last time I brought it up you blinked. I'm hoping to get a much more deepened response this time.

That was ironic satire.

Reality is, I have never seen the actual Jesus.
I saw many representations of him in the various Catholic churches where my mother dragged us little kids, and in the Catholic School up in Atchison, Kansas, where I suffered under the lightening-swift yardstick of the nuns who meted out the punishment, back in those days.

He was lilly-white and bearded, and was always represented as a beautiful and beatific young man. Bearded and with flowing robes. Either that, or he was beat all to shit, and nailed up on a cross for all our sins.

Sins included talking in class, looking like you were going to talk in class, falling asleep during Mass, looking like you were going to fall asleep during Mass, and spending too long in the bathroom pondering your pee-pee when you should have been out of there many minutes ago. (That particular offense got you a swift lashing of the yardstick to your naked hiney, as I recall. I pondered my pee-pee a lot, I guess.)

Anyway.
I don't hold a grudge.
I can only assume they meant well.

That summed things up better than I could have ever done so...

But really, Mr. Freethinker, give us your absolute honest opinions about religion:

Alright.

I view it in the same way that Bertrand Russell and Gore Vidal view it.

"'Religion is based mainly upon fear ... fear of the mysterious, fear of defeat, fear of death. Fear is the parent of cruelty, and therefore it is no wonder if cruelty and religion have gone hand in hand. My own view on religion is that of Lucretius; I regard it as a disease born of fear and as a source of untold misery to the human race"._________Bertrand Russell

"Now to the root of the matter. The great unmentionable evil at the center of our culture is monotheism. From a barbaric Bronze Age text known as the Old Testament, three anti-human religions have evolved --Judaism, Christianity, Islam. These are sky-god religions. They are, literally, patriarchal --God is the omnipotent father-- hence the loathing of women for 2,000 years in those countries afflicted by the sky-god and his earthly male delegates. The sky-god is a jealous god, of course. He requires total obedience from everyone on earth, as he is in place not for just one tribe but for all creation. Those who would reject him must be converted or killed for their own good. Ultimately, totalitarianism is the only sort of politics that can truly serve the sky-god's purpose. Any movement of a liberal nature endangers his authority and that of his delegates on earth. One God, one King, one Pope, one master in the factory, one father-leader in the family home." __________Gore Vidal

Religion is the most despicable, destructive and anti-human mind virus to have ever entered into the consciousness of humankind. ________ Freethinker

In the interests of decorum, I had to sugar-coat the answer fairly heavily ..... but that pretty much sums it up.

Another dose of the harsh truth for you---

"Christianity teaches us to hate ourselves" __________Franciscan priest Brennan Manning

"Religious people often accuse atheists of being arrogant and placing ourselves in the position of god, but really it is the theist who has all the vanity. The religionist is an ignorant coward who can't stand to think that he will ever cease to exist"._____________Marian Noel Sherman
